INTRODUCTION

Inspired by the natural beauty of British Columbia, Marty Malaschitz creates works of art in his hometown of Pemberton. As a carpentry artist, Marty, the owner of MWP Woodwork spends a lot of time in the backcountry looking for felled wood and wood from forest fires to create his masterpieces.

For the past 20 years, Marty has lived in the Sea to Sky Corridor, working as a custom carpenter, firstly building log homes and latterly building custom carpentry for his ever growing list of clients in the region and internationally.

Marty will only use felled wood for his creations and only from within a 100 miles of his hometown, thereby giving him a creative challenge when something unique was called for but thereby always having a strong connection to the local area.

Now, Marty either takes on specific assignments for clients, or, he creates pieces to then exhibit and sell from his showroom in the Pemberton Meadows.

Please enjoy perusing this website and we look forward to being able to assist.

PRODUCTS

We have a variety of products available for purchase and order based on personal requirements. Some of our more regular products are shown below and custom pieces can be sized based on requirements.

Chairs

Mainly created with a chainsaw and then sanded down to give it a perfect finish. If we don’t have anything you like in stock, we can either make one of our existing products or design and make a customised chair for you.

Animals

One of our more popular ranges right now are our bears. All of our bears are carved from solid logs using a chainsaw. We have a few in stock depending on style and size and have full bears, heads and upper bodies. We have also carved horses heads and can copy pictures of horses heads if a customized one is sought.

Burl Desks & Coffee Tables

These can be all shapes and sizes and range from a small coffee table to a full scale CEO’s desk, we have made many different variances and generally have some in stock.

Shelving

Marty loves to be creative with shelving and has some amazing pieces in stock or can make any new design as required.

Bannisters and Railings

This used to be Marty’s main business, creating bannisters and railings from natural wood from the surrounding countryside and all cut by chainsaw. Renovations and new builds can all be handled easily my MWP Woodwork.

Side Tables & Blocks

Large logs (very difficult to get back to the workshop), cut down to form perfect squared or off cambered blocks of wood for wine cellars, side tables, entrance features or light stands. We generally have these in stock.

Bowls & Vases

Using a lathe, these beautiful bowls and vases are fantastic gifts, again using wood from the local area. We also use off cuts of glulam to create some pretty special pots. We have lots in stock and can make more if there is a specific design that you envisage.

Signage

We can either sandblast solid wood to make customized signs, or, we can hand carve the sign to give it that more personal finish. These are all made to order and we can do any shape or size.

CUSTOM CARPENTRY

Apart from creating variations of our product range listed previously, we also undertake completely customised carpentry for our discerning customers. Recent examples have been a Pumpkin that has been carved using a chainsaw for Cornucopia, a head of a horse carved as a likeness of a client’s horse and a burl desk for a prominent CEO. We have also worked on some very large children’s play structures using natural wood for projects in Japan. Please don’t hesitate to ask for anything customized and the more interesting the better!

SHOWROOM

We would welcome visitors to our showroom, it is also our workshop so sometimes it is clean and tidy and other times it is covered in dust whilst Marty is in mid-creation. We would be more than happy to show visitors around and explain more about where Marty’s inspiration and vision comes from and also show the process from a log through to a finished piece. As we are active all over the Sea to Sky Corridor, we would advise visitors to book an appointment in advance to make sure we are on site.
